Dawn patrol, sketchy snow and the prairie

Centennial, WY, 630am. The sun is just on the rise, and we were already on our way out.

Seems like I have a nac for hitting all time high temperatures, just like in Chamonix last year. Snow conditions are not too good, about 30-40cm of the worst facets I have ever seen and a nice new storm slab of 20-30cm on top. Reactive? Very. We look for mellow runs, dig lots and try to be in by 10am, before everything is too fried. Did I mention it is sunny? And dry, everything is dry, as one would expect from the prairie.

We live just below the Centennial Ridge. The runs are only about 350 vert, but hold really nice terrain, snow conditions permitting. At least we got a few nice turns, and a bucketload of sunlight. This is more like the riding you get in May in Sweden, I was riding with just base layer and no shell jacket both today and yesterday, kracking!

Soon we are heading for more, better and more stable snow in bigger terrain, I can't wait!

Thanks Andrea for letting me tag along, and for buying a proper car for serious pow hunting missions
